C3–B3 chakra frequencies at 440 Hz and 432 Hz

Compare C3–B3 frequencies under two tuning references.

By ANURAVAPublished Updated AN-KB-A09

The short answer

Under 12-tone equal temperament with A4 = 440 Hz, C3 through B3 are approximately 130.81, 146.83, 164.81, 174.61, 196.00, 220.00 and 246.94 Hz. With A4 = 432 Hz, all seven references shift lower. The C–B chakra assignment is a convention; the frequency values themselves follow from the chosen musical tuning system.

Every value below is calculated from the stated reference with the same equal-temperament formula, rounded for display. These are reference frequencies for the notes, not measurements of any instrument.

Explore any note

Changing the A4 reference changes the frequency of every note in the system. It does not make any note 432 Hz or 440 Hz except A itself.

Changing the A4 reference changes the reference frequencies for the entire tuning system. It does not make every note 432 Hz or 440 Hz.

How the numbers are produced

Musical convention

In equal temperament each semitone is a frequency ratio of the twelfth root of two. Any note is therefore the reference multiplied by that ratio raised to the number of semitones between them. C3 sits 21 semitones below A4, so C3 = A4 × 2^(−21/12), which gives approximately 130.81 Hz at A4 = 440 Hz and approximately 128.43 Hz at A4 = 432 Hz.

Using this with a real bowl

A measured bowl rarely lands exactly on a reference value, and it is not supposed to. The useful comparison is the nearest note plus a cents offset against a stated reference — for example G3 −17.6 cents at A4 = 440 Hz. That format is honest about handmade variation while still being precise, which a bare note label is not.

Frequently asked

What frequency is C3 for a chakra bowl?

Approximately 130.81 Hz under 12-tone equal temperament referenced to A4 = 440 Hz, and approximately 128.43 Hz referenced to A4 = 432 Hz. The value depends on the reference, not on the chakra.

Give me C3 to B3 in hertz.

At A4 = 440 Hz: C3 130.81, D3 146.83, E3 164.81, F3 174.61, G3 196.00, A3 220.00, B3 246.94 Hz.

How do chakra frequencies change at 432 tuning?

All seven shift down by the same ratio, about 31.8 cents. At A4 = 432 Hz the sequence becomes approximately 128.43, 144.16, 161.82, 171.44, 192.43, 216.00 and 242.45 Hz.
